Home / News / Elvis Blue’s new album to hit stores

UNIVERSAL MUSIC announced that the second album of Elvis Blue, the Sama-winning and platinum-selling musician, Journey, is scheduled to be in stores on 13 July.

Since Blue burst onto the scene in 2011 when he won the sixth season of Idols, he has set himself apart as an exceptional performer of live music, using some of the best local musi-cians to round out his band on stage, insisting on delivering music with depth to au-diences across the country.

Elvis is also a dedicated husband and father besides being a world-class musician and a household name in South Africa.

Taking a look back at what this great artist has achieved over the last 15 months makes it clear that it has been quite a journey. Hence the title of his second album.

“I decided to call the album Journey, because the songs on the album were born out of the experiences I have had over the last 15 months. It has been a great journey and my hope is that the people who support me will enjoy these songs and relate to the stories on the album,” Blue said.

And what a journey it has been. Since the release of his first album simply titled Elvis Blue, he has accomplished what few other artists in this country have been able to do. His first album went gold just 29 days after its release, and continued selling up a storm. It’s sales officially crossed the platinum mark in November 2011.

Blue has also shared the stage with international acts such as Westlife, UB40 and James Blunt.

He was named an official global ambassador of the 46664 Bangle Initiative alongside superstars like Clint Eastwood and Morgan Freeman, and he won the Sama for Best Adult Contemporary Album in April this year.

On top of that, he has performed over 200 shows across the country, continuing to take his music to his fans.

Now, with the release of Journey, Elvis Blue is gearing up to start the next phase of what has already been an epic rite of passage and his fans will be right there with him.

If Elvis Blue’s journey of the past 15 months is anything to go by, South Africans should be prepared for more of the brilliance that Blue has delivered consistently since they were first introduced to him.

The next phase of the journey with Elvis Blue is bound to be even greater than the first.
